This is the so-called Shangrila which means imaginary paradise, the mythical Hunza where every other man is said to be above 100. Karimabad offers an awe-inspiring view of Rakaposhi (7788m). The snows of Rakaposhi glitter in the moonlight, producing an atmosphere at once ethereal and sublime. You obtain a magnificent view of the whole valley laid out below you and of the peaks behind. The fairy-tale like castle of Baltit is a Hunza’s landmark built about 700 years ago. Baltit (the old capital of Hunza) was built by the Baltit artisans who came to Hunza with a Balti princess married to a Hunza Mir in ancient times.

Hunza Patundas trek is one of the most popular treks in upper Hunza Valley. This trek will lead you to Patundas Meadows from where you will have a bird’s eye view of almost all the peaks of Hunza. You will witness the snow covered peaks floating over and amongst the suspended fog and mist, presenting a unique view which you will never be able to scratch from your memories. Patundas is a summer pasture at 4200m on the ridge between the Passu and Batura glaciers with spectacular views.

Day 01: Arrival Gulmit
On arrival transfer to hotel and check in, overnight stay in hotel at Gulmit.

Day 02: Gulmit – Borit Lake
After breakfast we go for Borit Lake over Gulmit Glacier trekking to get ourselves acclimatized.
Trek: 4-5 hours, climb 200m (Tent)

Day 03: Borit Lake – Passughar
Today we will cross the hot, dry ridge to Passughar pasture, in the ablation valley on the south side of Passu Glacier.
Trek: 3-4 hours, climb 600m (Tent)

Day 04: Passughar – Luzdar
We will cross Passu Glacier with the help of ropes and crampons.
Trek: 2-3 hours, climb 300m (Tent)

Day 05: Luzdar – Patundas
The path is steep but not difficult and the views are magnificent here.
Trek: 4-5 hours, climb 600m (Tent)

Day 06: Patundas
This will be a free day at camp site

Day 07: Patundas – Molovil
We will walk down to Molovil on the Batura Glacier with terrific views.

Day 08: Molovil – Passu – Gulmit
Today we will walk down to Passu and then onward we will take road transport to Gulmit. Overnight stay in hotel at Gulmit.

Mintaka Pass Trek

From Sust over Misghar Valley

The old and real silk route from China to India-subcontinent crossed the Mintaka Pass and came down the Misghar Valley to Hunza. A broad easy path still leads up through pastureland to this pass, ideal for a horse safari on the roof of the world. The pass is the central Asian watershed. Beyond it is the rolling high plateau of Central Asia.

Until the KKH was built across the Khunjerab Pass, the Mintaka Pass was the most popular route from Hunza to Tashkurgan; the KKH was built across the Khunjerab Pass because the Mintaka Pass lay too close the Afghan and then the Soviet borders.

7 days Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival Sust (Upper Hunza)
On arrival transfer to hotel and check in, overnight stay in hotel at Sust.

Day 02: Sust – Kalamdarchi
We will ride jeep up to Misghar and some seven kilometers above Misghar Village and onward trekking.
TreK: 2-3 hours (Tent)

Day 03: Kalamdarchi – Murkushi
We will walk up the shepherds huts to Murkushi.
Trek: 5-6 hours, distance 14km, altitude 3650m (Tent)

Day 04: Murkushi – GulKhwajaUween
This is a pleasant walk up the west bank of the Mintaka River is a grassy pasture.
Trek: 4-5 hours, altitude 4200m (Tent)

Day 05: GulKhwajaUween – Mintaka Pass – GulKhwajaUween
We will climb the remaining 500m to the Mintaka Pass as a day trip, don’t enter China.
Trek: 5-6 hours, climb 500m (Tent)

Day 06-07: GulKhwajaUween – Kalamdarchi – Sust

Today we will walk down to Kalamdarchi and onward jeep to Sust, overnight stay in hotel.

Shimshal Shuijerab Pass BoesamPir Pass Trek
This is one of the most popular treks to do in Shimshal Valley. This is a tough trek, for those with mountaineering skills only, traversing 70 km through the heart of the Khunjerab National Park and coming out on the KKH at Kuksil. It is possible only in August and September, as you have to cross the Khunjerab River which is in spate earlier in the season.

Shimshal Pass Trek

This is the most popular trek in the Shimshal valley to visit the main summer pastures of Shujerab and Shuwert. You can go up by one route and return by another. The Shimshal Pass is on the central Asian watershed.
This is 19 days trek from Islamabad toShimshall Pass and then back to Islamabad, allowing beginner to climber 3 or more summits around 6000m to climb from the Shimshal Pass, MungaligSar Peak 5931m (6050m) with ascent of 1480m and descent of 1480m in a day. One of the two other 5000m peaks are KuzSar and ZhuiSarwhich are also possible to climb in one day.
